Well hello there….

August 30th, 2008

Ahhh, Labor day weekend, I don’t know if I have ever been so gratefull for a long weekend before.  I say that only because the past week has been one I do not wish to repeat anytime soon.  To say this week was trying is an understatement for sure!  I had to balance scheduled work, which generally takes up 70% of my week, with a seemingly endless number of emergencies and crisis!  Between virus infections, Servers having hard drive failures, Internet access snafu’s and my sewer line being replaced it felt as if I was being pulled in fifty diffferent directions.  In fact it seemed I could do nothing right up until Thursday afternoon when things finally started to go right.  I was, at last, able to bust ass on Friday to get caught up on nearly everything I had to push back due to emergencies.  In fact it almost felt strange last night to not have any huge crisis waiting for me(that I know of..eeeek!).  Wow, I sure do sound like a whiner don’t I?  Hmm… must mean it is time to move on!

This weekend also generally marks the end of summer for most people.  School starts soon and in a month or so the trees will start changing colors.  As I write this I look back and realize I have not really been able to do much of what I wanted to this summer.  With Grace & myself having “real life” obligations and outrageous gas prices, it seems we had barely any time to enjoy the summer.  We  haven’t even been able to take our yearly camping trip yet.  I say yet because we are planning on doing so the weekend of the 12th & 13th.  We still have not been able to go to Crater Lake on the motorcycles yet and to be honest, I do not know if Grace will be ready to ride up there this year.  Going on a trip on the highway, away from home, is a lot different on a bike than a car.  So what I think will happen is I  will ride my bike and she will follow in the car with her son.  Perhaps next year Grace, her Brother, Brother’s Girlfriend and myself can take the bikes up there together.  I will keep my fingers crossed  :)

Speaking of riding, unless something drastic happens, I plan on taking my bike to Ashland this weekend via Highway 66.  All of the locals here know Highway 66 to be extremely  twisty.  So much so that I, in fact, have gotten car sick on that road when I was younger.  I am taking this trip to celebrate having my bike for a year now.  I had originally  hoped to hit 4,000 miles by now but I am short by about 200.  I figure by the time I get to Ashland and Back, I should be breaking the 4,000 mile mark at last :) .

As I said earlier, it is Labor day weekend, so I am going to go out and enjoy it.  Have a happy and safe weekend everybody and be sure keep the rubber side down!
