Highway 66 ride – Thwarted

September 1st, 2008

So lets see, what is a good way to spend a Sunday?  Maybe do yard work or perhaps do your laundry and cleaning?  That sounds all to boring, it is labor day weekend after all!

Well I decided to fire up my iron horse and give it a spin.  I ended up on my way to Ashland via Highway 66 but was defeated at the top of the pass by the cold.  I stopped at Tub Springs state park and sat in the sun for 30 minutes warming myself up.  During this time I called Grace and had decided I would just head back, instead of go on to Ashland, another 20 or so miles down the road.  I figured if I was freezing now, I would be REALLY cold when I was riding home in another hour.  I REALLY did not want to head back but my common sense over powered my stubborness.  :)

Sometimes I am a bit slow….

August 31st, 2008

For the last few weeks I have been working to design this site and it’s content.  I knew I wanted to have a blog page so I was trying to do everyting myself.  Is not much of a surprise since I am a DIY kind of guy but I was getting to the point where I was just reinventing what the various blog engines have already done.

So, today I decided to try out wordpress.  After a little customization I have something I like with a MUCH easier interface to use.  Everything is just done for you and it adds all of the features I was going to have to design myself.  I have a bit more tweaking to do but it is 90% where I want it after only an hour or so of work!  You can’t argue with that now can you?  :)

As you can tell, it is still labor day weekend.  I am going to go saddle up on the bike and go for a spin.  I might even record the trip using my camera so if I do, I might just link to it here.. :)

Well hello there….

August 30th, 2008

Ahhh, Labor day weekend, I don’t know if I have ever been so gratefull for a long weekend before.  I say that only because the past week has been one I do not wish to repeat anytime soon.  To say this week was trying is an understatement for sure!  I had to balance scheduled work, which generally takes up 70% of my week, with a seemingly endless number of emergencies and crisis!  Between virus infections, Servers having hard drive failures, Internet access snafu’s and my sewer line being replaced it felt as if I was being pulled in fifty diffferent directions.  In fact it seemed I could do nothing right up until Thursday afternoon when things finally started to go right.  I was, at last, able to bust ass on Friday to get caught up on nearly everything I had to push back due to emergencies.  In fact it almost felt strange last night to not have any huge crisis waiting for me(that I know of..eeeek!).  Wow, I sure do sound like a whiner don’t I?  Hmm… must mean it is time to move on!
