Grace, her son and myself went down to the Tulelake fair yesterday where a good time was had by all. After such a crazy week it was nice to slow down and just enjoy myself without the worries or stress of the upcomming week. We ate tasty yet horrible for you food, drank gallons of lemonade and just had a great time.
For any of you who have not seen them, the Alaskan Racing Pigs is a fun show to watch. I am not sure how close to Alaska these pigs have actually been but they sure can run!
If that picture doesn’t make you laugh then perhaps this will?
Yes, who would have thought that pigs could jump? Surely these pigs possess some superior athletic ability?
As you can imagine, Grace’s son couldn’t WAIT to get to the RIDES. He was like a kid in a… well.. carnival.. go figure. Pointing at each ride exclaiming “I want to go on THAT momma.” While I relegated myself to photography duty, Grace and the boy had a great time, even going on a few rides together.
Can you spot them up there? Don’t feel bad, I can’t either
.
I took other pictures of this ride but it was not until sunset when the colors really started to come out. I think I had more fun taking pictures than Grace and her son did on the ride!
After we made our pass through the rides it was getting dark so we figured it would be time to go home. We couldn’t leave though without getting a glass of amazing lemonade! As we sat on an out of the way bench to enjoy it, I had a perfect view. Of what you might ask, well look.
I must admit this picture is impossible hand held at this low light. If you click the picture you will notice the moon & tree are in focus which is an impossibility without a super high aperture. A super high aperture would make hand holding this shot at this low light level darn near impossible. So I cheated and took two pictures, one with the tree in focus and a 2nd with the moon in focus. Then using photoshop it was a simple task of using a layer mask to reveal the correctly focused moon.
This was probably my most “artistic” picture of the day and was taken when most people put their cameras away. Just goes to show that you don’t put your gear away until you are driving out of the parking lot
